Monmouth University is a private, comprehensive higher education institution founded in 1933 and located in West Long Branch, New Jersey, a short drive from the Atlantic coast and within reach of New York City and Philadelphia. The 156-acre campus includes 55 buildings, blending historic landmarks with modern facilities to support its broad academic offerings. As a moderate-sized, coeducational university, it combines the scope of a comprehensive institution with the individualized attention associated with smaller liberal arts colleges. Its programs emphasize quality teaching in a range of disciplines, with small class sizes that support student engagement. The campus sits in a high-tech business region, providing cooperative education and post-graduate employment opportunities for many students. In June 2026, Monmouth announced a partnership with the Surfrider Foundation to expand ocean water quality monitoring in New Jersey.
