Montgomery Parks is a major network of parks and recreational facilities operated in Montgomery County, Maryland, as part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. It provides residents and visitors with access to more than 38,000 acres of parkland and more than 420 parks. The system includes more than 270 miles of trails, lakes and streams, historic sites, event centers, and a wide range of recreational amenities such as indoor ice rinks, tennis courts, miniature golf, driving ranges, athletic fields, campgrounds, nature centers, and botanic gardens. Montgomery Parks offers classes and programs throughout the year to support community recreation and education. Based in Wheaton, Maryland, the organization is part of a county-level park and planning agency and has earned the National Gold Medal for Excellence in Parks six times.
