Montis Biosciences is a preclinical-stage biopharmaceutical company advancing innovative therapeutics to treat inflammation-driven neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune disorders and selected cancers. Montis’ lead program, MB01, focuses on modulating the multifaceted roles of C1q, the activator of the classical complement pathway and a key immune system mediator in neuroinflammatory and autoimmune disorders. Unlike existing C1q-targeting approaches that focus on blocking the classical complement pathway, Montis has discovered novel anti-C1q antibodies, capable of targeting C1q’s complement-independent functions with or without inhibiting the classical complement cascade. These antibodies hold the potential to offer a paradigm shift in the complement field and to revolutionize treatments for certain neurodegenerative diseases and autoimmune neuropathies. Based on extensive in vitro end in vivo evaluation, Montis is working on selecting the drug candidates and aims to initiate two Phase 1 clinical trials in these indications in 1H 2026. Montis’ second program (MB02) focuses on inhibiting CD93, a novel perivascular target, in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC). A potent drug candidate was selected, holding best-in-class potential in this inflammation-driven and underserved oncology indication. Montis plans to partner this promising asset.
