MOREnet is a Missouri-based IT services and IT consulting organization that functions as a unit within the University of Missouri. Established in 1991 and headquartered in Columbia, the company provides Internet connectivity, access to Internet2, technical support, videoconferencing services, and training to Missouri’s K-12 schools, colleges and universities, public libraries, health care facilities, state government, and related organizations. Its network serves as a foundational infrastructure where education communities exchange data and video services, public sector business applications are built and operated, and citizens interact with state government, while explicitly not acting as a private consumer Internet service provider. The firm operates in a domain that positions it as a specialized backbone and support resource for interconnected educational, public sector, and affiliated institutions within Missouri. A noted development is the ongoing provision of free downloadable screen savers introduced in early 2018 to promote data privacy awareness among patrons and students.
