The Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) serves as a regional hub for education, information, technology, research, training, and services aimed at improving health outcomes in Western North Carolina. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, it covers a 16-county area and works with healthcare professionals, students, and institutions throughout the region. The organization is described as a pipeline for healthcare training, connecting students to career opportunities, training residents, and providing continuing education to practicing professionals. 

MAHEC's activities target the region's health workforce needs by supporting education and training across multiple stages of the healthcare career pipeline. In 2025 the center launched the region's only Centering Parenting program, a group-based model of well-child care, with support from the First Horizon Foundation. This focus on education and services situates MAHEC within the regional wellness and healthcare training landscape.
