Minneapolis Downtown Council (MDC) and Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District (DID) work to create an extraordinary, vibrant, and welcoming downtown. Founded in 1955, MDC is a membership-based organization representing more than 400 businesses and organizations of all sizes. DID delivers enhanced services focused on cleanliness, safety, hospitality, and public realm activation—ensuring downtown is inviting, accessible, and thriving every day.

Our work is guided by Downtown by Design, MDC’s 2035 plan—a bold, people-centered roadmap to reimagine the heart of Minneapolis. Through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the plan advances economic vitality, inclusive growth, and transformative public spaces, aligning dozens of strategies and partners around a shared vision for downtown’s future.
