Mr Bongo is a Brighton-based company operating across music and film with an intertwined publishing arm. Originally established as a London record shop in 1989, the business built a reputation for distributing independent hip hop vinyl and Latin music outside their traditional markets, and later expanded to include a recording roster focused on Brazilian, Latin, reggae, African, and jazz artists, as well as a world cinema division that licenses and curates international films. The company serves music fans and creative professionals looking for hard-to-find genres and curated audiovisual content, while its publishing arm handles licensing and worldwide royalty collection for clients including major brands and media companies. Positioned within a niche of genre-focused music and cinema, Mr Bongo operates from the city of Brighton in the United Kingdom and has evolved to encompass recording, distribution, film curation, and licensing services. A notable recent development is the collaboration with Dimensions Festival to host a vinyl-appreciation session, reflecting ongoing engagement with the broader music community.
