The MSU Research Foundation operates as a resource within the Michigan State University research ecosystem, aiming to increase the reach and impact of research and innovation. It advances this mission by administering grant programs that provide substantial support to the University, along with entrepreneurial initiatives and early-stage investment activity that speed technology transfer and startup growth across Michigan. It also fosters environments where early-stage companies and research collaborators can collaborate and mature.

The Foundation is based in East Lansing, Michigan, and functions as a mid-sized organization focused on university-driven research and entrepreneurship. In October 2023, the organization announced the addition of a new program to its Conquer Accelerator, reflecting ongoing efforts to expand its development offerings.
