MFA operates as a coordinating network within the civic and social sector, bringing together more than ninety participating organizations to respond to the Syrian refugee crisis. As a project of the Tides Center, MFA is based in New York City and mobilizes faith-based and civil society actors to address humanitarian needs and policy challenges affecting refugees. The network functions as a conduit for collective action, leveraging its diverse members to influence concrete responses on the ground. Its activities include mobilizing interfaith responses, raising awareness of needs and opportunities for action, and advocating for humane refugee policies. MFA delivers humanitarian aid and raises funds to support direct services on the ground, and it seeks to cultivate partnerships across the region. In its public policy work, it addresses concerns commonly cited in policy debates—economic impact, terrorism, and Islamophobia—to support more humane and sensible refugee policies.
