Mundo Deportivo is a Spanish daily sports newspaper published in Barcelona by Grupo Godó, which also owns La Vanguardia. Its reporting centers on current sports news, with a particular emphasis on football and FC Barcelona. Founded in 1906 and becoming a daily in 1929, it is the oldest sports newspaper still in print in Spain and one of the oldest in Europe; it also operates regionally branded editions such as Mundo Atlético for Atlético Madrid and Mundo Deportivo Bizkaia and Mundo Deportivo Gipuzkoa for Basque clubs. Its editorial leadership is based in Barcelona, with Santi Nolla as editorial director and Óscar Rodríguez as managing director. In July 1999 the publication redesigned its format, adding color and pages, updating the masthead, and dropping the article El from its name, reflecting a modernization of its presentation; it remains a longstanding source of football coverage with deep regional relevance in Catalonia.
