The Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington focuses on contemporary glass art and operates what is described as the region’s largest active museum glass studio. It supports artist residencies and mounts traveling exhibitions, while growing a permanent collection that documents the development of modern and contemporary glass. As a maker‑oriented space, it offers rare public access to glassmaking demonstrations and hosts numerous Visiting Artist Residencies each year, including participants from the Hilltop Artists program. The museum serves a broad audience of visitors, students, and veterans through programs such as Kids Design Glass, Science of Art, Junior Curator Academy, and Hot Shop Heroes, which aim to foster creativity and healing. Opened in 2002, it has contributed to Tacoma’s cultural landscape and sits among a cluster of museums near the Thea Foss Waterway. In 2024, the museum formed a partnership with The Salmon School to support collaborative education about Chum Salmon with local schools and partner institutions.
