The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) is a small- to mid-sized contemporary art museum in San Francisco that centers Black cultures and the global African Diaspora. It presents exhibitions and programs aimed at sparking discussion and fostering learning about Black experiences worldwide. Located at 685 Mission Street, MoAD serves a diverse audience including students, researchers, and community members seeking critical perspectives within the cultural landscape of the city. In 2024 MoAD launched Nexus: SF/Bay Area Black Art Week, a platform to present Black art in the Bay Area, with continued programming into 2025 such as Unbound as part of the Nexus initiative. The museum operates within the Museums, Historical Sites, and Zoos industry and maintains a focused agenda around contemporary art and cultural dialogue.
