Musicopia, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, supports primary and secondary education by revitalizing school arts programs and expanding equitable access to music and dance for students and their communities. The organization was founded in 1974 by a string quartet, and it brings collaborative performance experiences into schools to broaden participation in the arts. Its teaching roster includes more than 100 professional ensembles and solo artists as well as dancers, delivering programs across a broad spectrum of musical and dance traditions—from classical and jazz to Latin, African, Middle Eastern, opera, hip hop, and rock. These programs engage students, teachers, and communities across the Greater Philadelphia area. In early 2024, Musicopia partnered with the Free Library of Philadelphia to present a special edition of its Bucket Drumming program for Black History Month.
