The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) is a state-subdivision focused on flood risk reduction, water conservation, and recreational opportunities within the Muskingum River Watershed in Ohio. The watershed covers more than 8,000 square miles, forms the Muskingum River at Coshocton, and drains into the Ohio River at Marietta; the MWCD was historically responsible for developing the reservoirs and dams in this system, and today serves property owners and residents in the region from its base in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Operating within government administration, MWCD provides flood reduction and water conservation benefits and facilitates access to recreational amenities around its reservoirs. In January 2026, the District appointed Dana Ohman as Chief of Conservation, bringing more than two decades of experience in aquatic ecology, stream and wetland restoration, and natural resource management to the organization.
