Based in Bradford, Vermont, MVP Robotics, Inc. operates in robotics engineering. It emerged from a collaboration between Dartmouth football coach Buddy Teevens and engineers and athletes from Dartmouth’s Thayer School of Engineering to create the MVP|DRIVES robotic tackling dummy, designed to reduce unnecessary contact and injuries in football and other sports practices. In its early rollout, the system was adopted by roughly half the NFL, more than 40 colleges, and over 75 high schools, and Dartmouth reported a 58% reduction in concussions during the first two seasons of use. MVP Robotics later developed HEKTR, a remote-controlled, armored, all-terrain live-fire training robot aimed at realistic warfighter training, capable of speeds over 20 mph with immediate feedback for operators. The HEKTR platform supports environments ranging from house and urban settings to woodland, desert, and snow, and is configurable via a mobile app to fit broader training evolutions. In 2020, MVP announced a manufacturing partnership with Columbia Tech.
