The official golf marketing association known as Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, made up of nearly 200 area business members, was formed in 1969, and exists to promote the game of golf in the Myrtle Beach area.

The organization also facilitates the largest amateur golf tournament in the world, the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Tournament, held at the end of August each year. The tournament draws roughly 4,000 golfers for a week-long handicapped tournament.
