The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) is a nonprofit environmental organization serving the greater Boston region. Its work aims to protect and restore the Mystic River, its tributaries, and watershed lands for present and future generations, emphasizing the intrinsic value and beauty of these natural resources. The association operates several water quality monitoring programs that generate data about the watershed’s conditions, and maintains initiatives such as a Herring Monitoring Program, a Greenways Program, and a Water Chestnut Removal Project, along with outreach, education, and advocacy efforts. Based in Arlington, Massachusetts, the organization serves communities linked to the Mystic River watershed. In 2026 it was recognized at the Boston Climate Leader Awards for Research and Innovation, a distinction achieved in collaboration with the Museum of Science. The association has a history of collaboration with regional partners, including MassBays and the Environmental Protection Agency, to advance watershed-related work.
