Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s first and largest grassroots-based civil rights organization, supported by a network of more than 2,000 volunteer-run branches across the United States. Its mission is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic rights of all people and to eliminate race-based discrimination. The organization is based in Baltimore, Maryland, and operates within the civic and social organizations sector. 
In 2018, Impact Shares launched the NAACP Minority Empowerment ETF in partnership with the NAACP, creating an investment vehicle focused on U.S. companies with strong diversity policies. The initiative was noted again in 2023 when the ETF celebrated its five-year anniversary.
