Nacha is a nonprofit based in Reston, Virginia, that brings together hundreds of diverse organizations to advance electronic payments and financial data exchange in the United States and beyond. The organization oversees the ACH Network, a payments platform that enables Direct Deposits and Direct Payments across almost every U.S. bank or credit union, with 35.2 billion payments in 2025 totaling around $93 trillion. Nacha works to assist participants in the ACH ecosystem by facilitating problem-solving and consensus-building among a broad range of stakeholders. Its activities include rulemaking, standards development, industry solutions, education, accreditation, and advisory services. In October 2025, Nacha introduced new codes and qualifiers within IAT data fields to provide greater context about the originating or receiving entity.
