Namaste Charter School is a K–8 charter school in Chicago, founded in 2004. It combines health and wellness with rigorous academic instruction to create a peaceful learning environment intended to foster lifelong success. Serving about 480 students in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the under-resourced southwest side, the school draws largely from low-income families, and admissions are by blind lottery with no tuition. Families participate in regular health initiatives, including nutrition workshops. Within the Education Administration Programs sector, Namaste is positioned as a model for other schools, hosting more than 250 educators annually to share best practices. It has been recognized as one of two schools nationwide to receive the U.S. Department of Education’s Dissemination grant.
