NASDA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association based in Arlington, Virginia, founded in 1916. It represents the elected and appointed leaders—commissioners, secretaries, and directors—of state departments of agriculture across all 50 states and four U.S. territories. In the field of government relations services, NASDA aims to grow and enhance agriculture by forging partnerships and building consensus to produce sound policy outcomes among state departments of agriculture, the federal government, and stakeholders. Its primary customers are the state departments of agriculture and associated stakeholders who rely on NASDA to coordinate policy and advance shared objectives at the state-federal interface. Positioned as a bridge within the agricultural policy landscape, NASDA focuses on collaborative efforts and policy alignment across government levels. In 2026, NASDA announced the launch of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, reflecting its engagement with broader policy and advocacy issues affecting the sector.
