The National Association for Behavioral Healthcare (NABH) is a professional association in the hospitals and health care sector that advocates for behavioral health care. It represents provider systems committed to delivering prevention, treatment, and care that are responsive, accountable, and clinically effective for people across the lifespan who experience mental health and substance use disorders. The organization is based in Washington, D.C., and was established in 1933. Its members are provider networks and health systems navigating policy and public affairs related to behavioral health. In October 2025, NABH named Mark Covall interim president and CEO while initiating an executive search after the retirement of the prior leader, and it has advanced member support initiatives such as enhancements to the Denial-of-Care Portal launched in 2022.
