Based in Washington, D.C., the National Chicken Council is a national, nonprofit trade association representing the U.S. broiler chicken industry. Founded in 1954 in Richmond, Virginia, the organization serves as the industry’s voice before Congress and federal agencies and advances the interests of producers, processors, fowl processors, allied firms, and distributors. Its members account for roughly 95% of U.S. chicken production, and the council supports humane animal treatment and product quality through guidelines and training. The NCC hosts gatherings where industry participants exchange ideas and pursue solutions, reinforcing its role as the sector’s unified representative. It maintains public resources such as the Chicken Check In page and has a social media presence, and leadership changes in 2025 saw Harrison Kircher assume the presidency.
