The National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) is a Washington, DC–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating in the government administration space. Founded in 1941, it partners with pension leaders across local, county, and state retirement systems to strengthen funds and protect the retirement security of more than 20 million public servants, including teachers, police officers, firefighters, and municipal workers. Its membership spans more than 650 public sector retirement systems, plan sponsors, unions, and service providers that collectively manage about $6 trillion in retirement assets. NCPERS supports its mission by delivering education and fiduciary training through conferences, summits, and year-round webinars, and by advocating for public pensions at the state and federal levels. The organization also conducts research and produces publications to inform decision-making, and provides operational resources and partnerships to help pension leaders operate more effectively. A notable recent development is the launch of a refreshed website in March 2026.
