The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is a nonprofit organization established by Congress to lead a nationwide effort to remember America's fallen firefighters. Based in Emmitsburg, Maryland, it has, since 1992, developed programs to honor fallen fire heroes and to support their families and coworkers. The foundation also collaborates with the fire service and life safety organizations to prevent and reduce line-of-duty deaths and injuries. Its work serves the fire service, safety organizations, survivors, and colleagues, addressing recognition, support, and safety education. Operating in the public safety sector, NFFF pursues partnerships and initiatives that promote safety leadership and applied research across the profession. A notable recent development is a strategic partnership with Oklahoma State University to strengthen fire service leadership, expand applied research, and improve firefighter safety nationwide.
