The National Honey Board is a federal research and promotion organization overseen by the USDA. It conducts research, marketing, and promotion programs to maintain and expand markets for honey and honey products, funded by a one-cent-per-pound assessment on both domestic and imported honey paid by consumers, the food service industry, and food manufacturers. Headquartered in Erie, Colorado, the organization operates as a small nonprofit with a focus on industry-wide beekeeping initiatives. Its activities emphasize sustainable beekeeping practices, high-quality honey production, and engagement with beekeepers and communities at local and national levels. A recent development involves a collaboration with the Bread Bakers Guild of America announced in May 2024 for an event to take place on May 20.
