National Low Income Housing Coalition is a mid-sized nonprofit based in Washington, DC, operating within the public policy space to advance housing solutions. Its core mission is to ensure that people with the lowest incomes in the United States have access to affordable and decent homes, a goal pursued through advocacy and research that inform policy decisions. Founded in 1974 by Cushing N. Dolbeare, the organization collaborates with other housing and public policy groups to promote socially just policy outcomes. The work centers on influencing policy to expand affordable housing options for low-income households.

In January 2026, NLIHC formed a partnership with the Public and Affordable Housing Research Corporation, the research arm of HAI Group, to collaborate on housing policy research and related data usage. The coalition participates in national policy discussions and engages with a network of advocates and partner organizations to advance its mission.
