The National Police Defense Foundation (NPDF) is a non-profit organization based in Morganville, New Jersey, at 21 Kilmer Drive, Building 2, Suite f, 07751, United States. It is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free medical and legal support to the law enforcement community and funds public safety and law enforcement initiatives. NPDF offers membership to civilians and professionals to foster positive police relations, and only members are eligible to participate in the Safe Cop license plate program. The Safe Cop program, established in 1995, offers rewards up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of individuals who shoot a law enforcement officer, with a conviction for armed assault and prosecutor certification required; it has supported arrests in police-related shootings. Additional Safe Cop services include medical care and counseling for disabled officers worldwide and the potential establishment of medical funds for those unable to pay, and the program has been credited with providing such support after the September 11 attacks.
