The National Press Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, that supports journalists through training and professional development. Its programs are open to journalists of all formats and are conducted in the capital, across the United States, and overseas, connecting reporters with experts to cover complex topics from politics and public health to criminal justice and international trade. The foundation aims to improve public understanding by strengthening journalistic coverage. In addition to training, NPF runs an awards program that recognizes excellence in journalism and helps highlight impactful reporting. The organization operates in the technology, information and media space as a small, 501(c)(3) nonprofit. A 2023 report notes a collaboration with North-West University to celebrate journalists’ work at the 2022 Newsmaker & Journalist of the Year awards.
