The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton / Seton Heritage Ministries is a religious institution focused on preserving and sharing the life and legacy of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American-born saint. Located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, the organization maintains two historic homes, a museum and visitor center, and a Basilica where the saint’s remains are entombed, offering daily tours and religious services including Mass most days and weekday Confession. Its activities are grounded in guiding visitors and pilgrims through Seton’s story to provide inspiration, with a program that supports ongoing education and reflection within the Catholic faith. The shrine positions itself within the religious institutions sector, serving individuals and groups interested in American Catholic history and the legacy of Seton, and operates from a site that combines heritage preservation with ongoing religious observance. Recent developments include initiatives to broaden awareness of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, including a series of video interviews with women whose orders trace their lineage to Seton.
