The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) is the country’s official standards body, responsible for standardisation, conformity assessment and measurement. Its work is centered on fostering consumer confidence and building the infrastructure that allows products and services to be recognized and relied on internationally. NSAI was established by the National Standards Authority of Ireland Act in 1996 and operates as a government agency reporting to a minister with special responsibility for employment, small business and retail. NSAI operates within the international trade and development landscape, delivering standardisation and metrology services that support market access and product safety. In 2024, NSAI’s National Metrology Laboratory announced Europe’s first verified GPS/GNSS Data Stream service, expanding Ireland’s measurement infrastructure.
