NEDFi, or North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd., is a financial services organization serving the North East India region. It was incorporated in 1995 as a public limited company and is headquartered in Guwahati, Assam, with its registered head office in the city. It operates as a non-deposit taking NBFC registered with the Reserve Bank of India and is promoted by a group of All India Financial Institutions, including IDBI, SBI, ICICI Ltd., IFCI, SIDBI, LICI, SUUTI and GIC and its subsidiaries. Its network spans eight North Eastern states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura—with 15 branch offices and five representative offices. Its remit includes identifying and financing commercially viable industries, along with advisory and consultancy services, mentoring and capacity building for micro, small, and medium enterprises, and support for sustainable livelihoods through microfinance and CSR activities. A recent development is that NEDFi Venture Capital Limited received the 15th National Digital Transformation Award in 2024 for an AgriTech initiative.
