Nekton is a non-profit organization based in Begbroke, Oxfordshire, that coordinates a global network focused on ocean science exploration. It brings together researchers, governments, media, philanthropy, and the private sector to broaden access to ocean science and to strengthen the capacity to explore the sea in an equitable and effective way. 

Recognizing the ocean as an interconnected system, Nekton supports programs aimed at deepening understanding and protecting a marine environment that sustains biodiversity and livelihoods. The organization conducts Missions and Programmes guided by urgency and curiosity to translate knowledge into actions that benefit people and the planet, including efforts to empower ocean nations to exercise greater control over their resources, expand applied research, share findings, and contribute to conservation policy and public engagement. A recent development is the 2023 launch of Ocean Census in partnership with the Nippon Foundation to advance understanding of marine life.
