The Nevada Northern Railway Museum, based in Ely, Nevada, operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the region’s historic copper-mining railroad heritage. It safeguards the original locomotives, rolling stock, track, and facilities that served Central Nevada for more than a century and is designated as a National Historic Landmark. The preservation effort is managed by a nonprofit foundation, allowing public access to a tangible piece of American industrial history. 

Visitors can experience the railway through about 90-minute train rides and access to the original maintenance shops and train yard. The site offers hands-on experiences, including an option to operate a locomotive and programming such as Railroad Reality Weeks and seasonal events like Haunted Ghost Trains and Polar Express. In 2025, the organization announced the launch of Locomotive 250, a fully restored engine unveiled to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
