New Community School provides children with a humanistic approach to learning, celebrating the whole child, nurturing his or her potential to live a productive, creative life in a multicultural, multilingual world. Learning takes place in small, mixed-age classes in which individual differences are respected and addressed, while cooperation, personal and group responsibility and self-statement are all encouraged. The self-esteem of each child flourishes in an atmosphere of personal respect and sexual, social and racial equality. A sense of social, environmental and peace consciousness is developed and enhanced. The curriculum integrates the arts, sciences, social studies, mathematics and literacy into meaningful units, built on the readiness and interests of the child.
