NEASC is an independent, nonprofit membership organization that partners with more than 1,500 public, independent, and international schools to assess, support, and promote high-quality education through accreditation and professional assistance. It aims to provide an ongoing process for meaningful whole-school improvement while honoring each institution's culture and context. Founded in 1885, NEASC has a long history of school improvement across New England and in more than 90 countries. Today, the organization concentrates on accrediting PK–12 schools and pursues priorities such as advancing equity, fostering innovation and excellence, and empowering students. Based in Lowell, New England, NEASC serves a diverse network of member schools, and in February 2025 appointed Tyrone Black as Chair of the Commission on Independent Schools.
