The New Israel Fund is a New York City–based nonprofit focused on democracy and equality for all Israelis, aiming to secure equal social and political rights irrespective of religion, race, gender, or national identity. It is widely credited with helping to build Israel’s progressive civil society through its network of partner organizations since its inception. A key component of its approach is Shatil, the Initiative for Social Change, which provides hands-on assistance, training, resources, and workshops to grantees and other social-change groups. 

Based in New York City and operating as a mid-sized nonprofit, it engages Israelis and diaspora Jews who share democratic values. In late 2025, the organization announced the appointment of Idit Klein as Vice President for Public Engagement, signaling ongoing expansion of its public-facing work.
