New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium is a nonprofit alliance of colleges, universities, and other groups dedicated to advancing knowledge and stewardship of New Jersey's marine and coastal environments. It pursues its mission through research, education, and outreach, has managed the New Jersey Sea Grant Program as part of a national system since 1976, earning Sea Grant College status in 1989, and is based in Highlands, New Jersey. Its programs provide equal opportunities for New Jersey students and citizens to learn about the marine environment, with curricula from pre-K through graduate studies. Each year, roughly thirty thousand participants engage in education programs and events. In March 2026, NJSGC announced a partnership with Rutgers University to develop a program for high school students to explore aquaculture careers.
