New York City Rescue Mission has been caring for the needs of the poor and the homeless of our great city since 1872. As the city has grown over those years, so has the homeless population. We remain committed as ever to helping to be a part of the solution for this segment of the population. The New York City Rescue Mission is supported by caring individuals, foundations and businesses. Less than two percent of the Missionâs revenue comes from government funding. The Mission has recently taken on its biggest project ever by adding three additional floors to help even more hungry, hurting and homeless men and women in our community. Goals of the New York City Rescue Mission - To shelter, feed and clothe 160 men and 30 women each day/night - Provide case management for our overnight guests addressing issues underlying poverty and homelessness - In addition to offering shelter and meeting basics needs for our female overnight guests, we will partner with residential programs such as the Bowery and The Walter Hoving Home to place women in programs to help get them off of the streets - To provide a Residential Recovery Program for 60 men. Each will have an individualized learning plan to allow for better development. Men in the Recovery Program leave the Mission within 9-12 months with the following conditions met: employed, independent living, spiritual and emotional health. - Partner with like organizations to address and solve issues of poverty and homelessness in the NYC area Our Motto: Hope Lives Here Our Mission Statement: Providing help and hope to the hungry, homeless and hurting men and women of New York City
