New York Restoration Project is a nonprofit organization in the environmental services sector focused on transforming open spaces in under-resourced New York City neighborhoods to create a greener, more sustainable urban environment. Founded in 1995 by Bette Midler, it functions as New York's only citywide conservancy, mobilizing private resources to support spaces that lack municipal backing and to strengthen aging urban infrastructure. The organization supports planting trees, renovating gardens, and restoring parks across the five boroughs to improve environmental quality and access to nature in densely populated areas. It has pursued collaborative projects with public and community partners, including a 2017 effort with NYC Parks to plant a grove and a 2025 initiative with The American Chestnut Foundation to distribute native saplings citywide. Based in New York City, NYRP maintains its operations from its Manhattan office.
