The New York Small Business Development Centers (NYSBDC) provide no-cost, confidential one-on-one business advisement, training, and research to small business owners and entrepreneurs across New York State. It is a joint federal and state economic development initiative administered by the State University of New York, designed to connect higher education resources with local enterprises. The network includes 19 regional centers across New York's 10 economic development regions, hosted at SUNY campuses, CUNY, Pace University, and St. Thomas Aquinas College, along with more than 70 satellite locations through partnerships with chambers of commerce, EDCs, IDAs, and incubators. Based in Albany, New York, the organization maintains a statewide footprint through its regional centers and extensive partner network. In March 2026 it launched the Strategic Growth Services pilot program, a collaborative offering involving multiple regional partners to support small business growth. The NYSBDC operates within the business consulting and services industry, positioning itself as a conduit between higher education institutions and small businesses to address growth and advisory needs.
