New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) is the national provider of blood and tissue products and related services in New Zealand, established on 1 July 1998 to ensure safe, timely access for patients. It coordinates an end-to-end transfusion process—from the collection of donations to their use in hospital settings—ensuring safety and appropriate availability. The organization supports matching donors with recipients for blood products, stem cells, and broader organ and tissue donation and transplantation, reflecting the ongoing need for blood across the country. Based in Auckland and operating within the hospitals and health care sector, NZBS serves as a national service with a mid-sized workforce serving hospital and patient communities statewide. In November 2025, the service opened a new Blood and Plasma Donor Centre at 65 Constellation Drive on Auckland's North Shore to expand capacity for lifesaving donations.
