Newark and Sherwood District Council is a local government authority serving the Newark on Trent area in England. It provides a broad range of public services to residents and local businesses, including waste collection and recycling, fly-tipping removal, and licensing for taxis and other local trades, as well as public health inspections of restaurants and food outlets. The council supports housing services—from rehousing homeless people and funding new low-cost homes to administering housing benefits—alongside the upkeep of parks, leisure centres, theatres, and cultural venues such as the Newark Palace Theatre and the National Civil War Centre. A notable recent development is the Newark Town Centre Masterplan, developed in partnership with Historic England and Allies and Morrison, which aims to guide development and regeneration in Newark's Conservation Area while preserving its historic character.
