The NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security is a coalition of international non-governmental organizations that operates as a project of the Tides Center. Based in New York, it engages in advocacy and monitoring to advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda at the United Nations and beyond, aiming to ensure that women’s human rights are promoted and that women participate meaningfully in conflict prevention, resolution, and post-conflict rebuilding efforts. The group works with partners across more than 50 conflict-affected countries and collaborates with hundreds of civil society actors to hold UN leadership, the Security Council, and member states accountable to Security Council Resolution 1325 and subsequent related resolutions. Since its inception, it has served as a bridge between women’s rights defenders and local peacebuilders and senior policy-makers, and is regularly invited to provide civil society perspectives to the UN Security Council. The organization operates within the international affairs sector and represents a unique civil society voice in New York on the women, peace and security agenda.
