Nicholls State University is a regional higher education institution based in Thibodaux, Louisiana, serving the Bayou Region since 1948. It enrolls a diverse student body of about 6,500 traditional and nontraditional learners on a 287-acre campus. The curriculum includes more than 100 bachelor’s and master’s programs and supports campus life through 14 Division I athletic teams, alongside distinctive offerings in culinary arts, geomatics, maritime management, marine and environmental science, and petroleum services and safety technology. The university is accredited as a regional institution and is known for supporting first-generation students and maintaining Military Friendly School status. In June 2026, Nicholls' Tutorial and Academic Enhancement Center earned Level III Certification from the College Reading and Learning Association for its tutor training program.
