Nikkei Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative serving the Japanese American community in Southern California. As a full-service financial institution, it offers a broad range of banking services under a democratic governance model in which members participate in oversight. Its origins trace to 1952 when a group of 12 charter members established a locally oriented credit union in Gardena, Southern California, where the organization is based. Today, it serves more than 5,800 members and maintains about $72 million in assets. In July 2025, it announced a partnership with My First Nest Egg, LLC, a digital financial literacy platform for children.
