Nirim is a mid-sized nonprofit organization in Israel’s civic and social sector, based in Oshrat in the Northern District. Since 2003, it supports youths at high risk to overcome harsh life circumstances, build confidence, and pursue constructive paths, reaching about 500 teens annually. The organization operates three coordinated modalities: a residential youth village for roughly 100 youths aged 14–18, an intensive track for youth referred by protection authorities or the Juvenile Court as an alternative to jail, and a neighborhood outreach network active in 15 cities with daily centers offering mentoring and parental guidance. It was founded by commanders and brothers-in-arms of the late Navy SEALs Sergeant First Class Nir Krichman, in whose memory the program is named. The organization addresses safety, poverty, substance abuse, and educational disengagement by providing structured programs that aim to help youths become self-reliant members of society, with more information at nirim.org.
