It all began in 1997 when two salesmen were on the open road, traveling from state to state, doing what they do best; selling shoes. Wandering from city to city; store to store, the two salesmen were inspired by an idea. An idea that would transcend into something they never thought could happen. An idea to build a brand based on the characteristics of a free-spirited individual, who loves fashion, but never forgets who they truly are. They thought to themselves, what better name for this than Nomad; a brand that would not only symbolize their own ideals, but also the ideals of the “nomad” girl. The little red man is symbolic to the Nomad ideals. The historical figure was chosen to represent the idea of always remembering where you came from, always remembering who you are. The color red was not just chosen because of its brightness and boldness, but because of what it represents. Red symbolizes the passion and courage each individual possesses within them self. The Nomad man itself is positioned in a way so that it looks as if he is on a mission; a mission to follow what he believes, but always remembering who he is along the way. Nomad began its journey in the junior fashion surf market. Being one of the original creators of the high EVA foam sandal, Nomad made its mark. From there, Nomad transformed its styles into the Cork wedge. Creating styles which could be worn by any girl, day or night; this was what Nomad stood for.
