The Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) is a nonprofit environmental organization based in Bellingham, Washington, serving Whatcom County. It aims to reverse declining salmon runs by improving river, creek, and riparian habitats and by educating people of all ages to help Pacific salmon and Steelhead survive. As a 501(c)(3) community-based group, NSEA focuses on habitat restoration and public education within the environmental services sector. The organization collaborates with regional partners, including Whatcom Conservation District and Whatcom Land Trust, to host an annual streamside planting event as part of Orca Recovery Day, a partnership in place since 2018, and has worked on creek restoration projects with land trust partners. It has engaged with higher education institutions to advance salmon restoration careers, for example Western Washington University began partnering with NSEA to offer certificates in this field.
