NORIT Activated Carbon is a chemical manufacturing company headquartered in the Netherlands, located at 34 Astronaut Amersfoort, Utrecht 3824 mj. It is described as one of the world's largest and most experienced producers of activated carbon, offering a full range of products, services, and technical support for purification needs. NORIT's products are used to remove pollutants and impurities from water, gas and air, as well as from food and beverages, pharmaceutical products and other liquids, and they are also used as colorants, carriers or catalysts in industrial processes. The company sources raw materials such as lignite, peat, bituminous coal, coconut and wood, and has created more than 400 different grades of activated carbon to fit various applications. In March 2022, Cabot Corporation sold its activated carbon manufacturing unit to NORIT Activated Carbon, after which the company became a stand-alone organization supported by One Equity Partners, a New York-based private equity firm, and it employs 201-500 people.
